- Charter History -
In the fall of 2001, Ms. Diep Tran was introduced to Delta Phi Lambda by Ms. Huyen Nguyen, a charter from DePaul University. After becoming acquainted with the sisters of Delta Phi Lambda, Ms. Tran set out to establish an interest group at Loyola University in the Spring of 2002. She felt that Loyola University needed an Asian-Interest sorority due to the lack of camaraderie amongst Asians on campus. She set out to find a group of women whom she could establish strong bonds with and those who had similar interests. With the help of the sisters at DePaul University, Ms. Tran eagerly sought out women that wanted to establish a sorority that promoted Asian Awareness and the bonds not only of everlasting friendship, but also sisterhood.
In February of 2003, Ms. Tran was joined by Ms. Duong Pham, Ms. Phu Truong, Ms. Yen Vi, and Ms. Xuan Pham. Together they began their pledgeship as the Loyola University Charter Class of Delta Phi Lambda. Their ambition and dedication helped them overcome the obstacles they encountered. With one goal in mind, they supported each other through the good and bad times. Strong bonds grew within the group and their persistence to succeed grew stronger. The five women sought to make a difference in the Asian community and to be the first Asian-interest sorority in existence at Loyola University. Their dream came true as they crossed and became sisters on April 5, 2003.
